JYJ Day Eleven - RADICAL

Merriam-Webster's definition:

1. very new and different from what is traditional or ordinary

2. very basic and important

Read definition #1 again. That's the reason why I chose Ms. Angela Davis.

The word RADICAL has always conjured up ideas of something negative or not the norm. Breaking all the rules, when in fact, it truly means new and different. Nothing about being malicious or negative. That's just society's spin on the word.

Ms. Davis was and still is radical for wanting to make a change. For wanting to bring something new into this world. Where are my Radical Sistahs? Not attitude...but radical. Of course, we have to have a strong attitude to go along with wanting to make a change, but a nasty and negative attitude is neither required nor desired.

It's time we got back to making some positive changes in this world. Time we focused on empowering young boys & girls to start believing in themselves again and not glorify society's view of the "thug" and "hoe" mentality. It's time we started taking stock in our future generation. That's what Ms. Davis did for me all those years ago. She fought and protested and endured jail so a little black girl like me would grow up to continue the movement to empower women to reach their full potential.

Say it loud...I'm a Sistah and I'm PROUD!

Peace & Blessings,

~Tracy
